PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The Billing & Receivables Specialist is responsible for providing excellent customer service as the main contact for customers and pharmacy personnel through various platforms. Additionally, the Specialist successfully navigates various internal technology to gather information to fully research and resolve account billing requests including but not limited to balances, charges and payments, as well as billing claims to responsible parties. The Specialist also researches aged account balances while taking additional actions as appropriate to collect payment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provides excellent service to customers and pharmacy personnel via various platforms such as phone calls, emails, retro requests, tech tickets and intranet requests.
· Researches and bills claims while ensuring responsible parties are billed as appropriate.
· Researches balances, charges, payments and the like while taking appropriate action to address each request such as processing payments, completing account adjustments and sending refunds.
· Researches aged account balances while taking appropriate actions such as reviewing account charges for accuracy, sending final notices, making phone calls, creating payment plans, entering adjustments and working with collection agencies.
· Verify customer demographics, ensuring account accuracy and HIPAA compliance with each interaction.
· Ensures accurate documentation on each account or internal request for all actions taken as appropriate.
· If immediate resolution is not possible or additional research is needed, provide timely follow up.
· Identify opportunities to improve. Partner with leadership to assist in implementing improvements to these processes
· Successfully utilize TWRx, PeopleSoft, OnBase, Intranet, MNITS, insurance websites, 835 data and all other technology/resources to complete tasks as appropriate.
· Assist with special projects as needed and/or requested by leadership.
· Learn and implement new and changing technologies on an ongoing basis.
· Maintain confidentiality of all patient PHI, following HIPAA guidelines and TW processes.
· Maintain a well-groomed appearance in accordance with company guidelines to present a professional image of the office.
· Maintain flexibility as work roles and/or job responsibilities change as environment requires.
· Perform all other job duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
· AAS Degree or equivalent experience.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with customers, team members, internal and external partners, and leadership.
· Excellent follow thru to ensure work is done correctly the first time and the customers concerns are addressed as quickly as possible.
· Moderate computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· Ability to:
o Troubleshoot and problem solve using all tools and resources available prior to escalating the issue
o Prioritize, multitask, and manage workload
o Handle stressful situations and customers/customer escalations in a polite and professional manner
o Maintain effective working relationships with specialists and leadership
o Maintain confidentiality
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Background and familiarity of pharmacy insurance processing. If background does not exist, must be able and willing to quickly pickup new knowledge and apply it quickly.
· Knowledge of PeopleSoft, TWRX, and OnBase.
